Dynamics of C_(60) molecule rotation in proximity to ordering transition
【摘要】：Nanoscale organic structures and molecular arrays have attracted increasing attention for their possible applications in molecular electronics as the building blocks of electronic circuits. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) is one of the most promising techniques for imaging of prototype molecular structures and testing their properties. At room temperature dynamic effects in a molecule behavior occur on a short timescale and influence molecular properties significantly. A microwave technique is usually employed to study dynamic effects since the characteristic time of a single C60 molecule rotation is in a range of 10 picoseconds . It is different in the vicinity of a rotation driven ordering transition , and STM can be successfully used for studying the dynamics of both individual C60 molecules and their arrays.
