Direct synthesis of dimethyl carbonate from CO_2 and methanol under low pressure

【摘要】:CO_2 is an attractive C1 building block in organic synthesis as it is naturally abundant, economical, non-toxic, and nonflammable. Among the transformation processes of CO_2 to useful molecules, the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate(DMC) is very attractive because DMC is a versatile and environmental benign chemical. Direct synthesis of DMC from CO_2 and methanol is an important method to the preparation of DMC. In this work, a novel synthetic route of DMC from CO_2 and methanol was studied under low pressure. The highest yield of DMC could be reached up to 70.9% in the case of an initial pressure of carbon dioxide at 2.5 atm.
