Proton Conducting Natures of Zr-MOFs and Their Mixed Matrix Membranes

【摘要】:Metal-organic frameworks, as newly emerging materials, show compelling intrinsic structural features, e.g., the highly crystalline nature, designable and tunable porosity, and tailorable functionality, rendering them suitable for proton conducting materials. In this context, the Zirconium(IV)-based MOFs(abbr. Zr-MOFs) have attracted great attention of researchers owing to their unique advantages, such as extra highly thermal stability and excellently chemical stability in the acidic environment, as well as fast proton conducting feature. Recently, we have being investigated the proton conductance of a series of Zr-MOFs and the mixed matrix membranes of Zr-MOFs with organic polymers, and our results demonstrate that the nanocrystals of Zr-MOFs are easily prepared by tuning the pH value of the react system, the superior proton conducting nature is achievable via the strategy of postsynthesis of ligands or guests exchange and the mixed matrix membranes of Zr-MOFs with organic polymers are new types of proton exchange membranes(ref. Figure 1), which show promising applications in a ranges of electrochemical devices, viz. electrochemical reactors, fuel cells, electrochromic displays and electrochemical sensors.~(1,2)
