What Do We Know from Areodesy? One of typical examples of geodetic explorations

Yuji Harada
【摘要】:正Mars is one of the most interesting celestial bodies in terms of both comparative planetology and planetary system science. This is because it possesses sub-systems similar to those of our Earth whereas it shows us quite different dynamics and evolution from those of our Earth. In general, including the cases of Mars and the Earth, geodetic observation is one effective way to understand variation in sub-systems of any planetary bodies in the solar system:For example, its exterior(atmosphere),surface(hydrosphere and cryosphere),and interior(core, mantle, and crust) sub-systems in the past, present, and future. We can obtain many keys to understand behavior of their systems through the three pillars of geodesy:Shape, gravity, and rotation.
