Class-2 Hybrid Vehicle Mileage Improvement Achieved by Retrofitting with Electrochemical Capacitor Energy Storage

【摘要】:A gasoline-powered Class-2 van was retrofitted~([1])for hybrid operation by the addition of a traction motor,inverter,and an energy storage unit comprised of electrochemical capacitors(ECs).No batteries were used.The system was evaluated using the Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedule~([2])(UDDS).Fuel mileage was improved 15-21%.Operational life is predicted to be 10~15 years.Fuel mileage depends on the power management strategy,which must be different from that used with a battery energy storage system.
