追求卓越、制度建设与大学教师的工作生活(英文)
【摘要】:正In higher education,application of the principle of public accountability has meant that the universities have to pay increasing attention to quality assurance issues in their core business of teaching,research,and service to the community.The purpose of this presentation is to illuminate two essential quality dimensions in the development of higher institutions,viz.,academic excellence as demonstrated by the quality of teaching and research of their faculties,and institutional capacity to enhance teaching and research,and more.The ability of universities to maintain a healthy balance between the faculty development and institutional building is vital for their success in pursuit of excellence."Excellence"is defined here as the attainment of high standards in the four kinds of scholarship that Boyer proposed for the scholarly pursuit of university faculties:scholarships of discovery,integration,application,and teaching.
