Toxic effects of insecticide endosulfan on Hoplobatrachus chinensis tadpoles

【摘要】:The utilization of various agricultural pesticides have direct and indirect effects on aquatic ecosystem.The toxic effects including survival,growth,frequency of the micronucleus erythrocytes and metabolic enzymes of acid phosphatase(ACP),alkaline phosphatase(AKP)and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)caused by organochlorine insecticide endosulfan on the tadpoles of Chinese tiger frog Hoplobatrachus chinensis was investigated in this study.The results showed that in acute toxicity mean percentage mortality increased significantly with concentrations and exposure duration for endosulfan,indicating that dose and time lethality.The 96 h LC50 value for H.chinensis tadpoles exposed to endosulfan in this study was found to be 23.38μg/L and its safe concentration was 2.34μg/L.In the micronucleus test,five different types of erythrocyte abnormalities were observed:mitotic,binucleated,unequal division,karyopyknosis and anucleated.Total frequencies of micronucleus erythrocytes were positively correlated to pesticide concentrations(Y=2.814 x+4.85,R2=0.779).Tadpoles exposed to endosulfan at low concentrations showed both survival rate and body mass in experimental treatments were almost smaller than those in control treatment.For metabolic enzyme activities,both the ACP and AKP activities were decreased and the LDH was increased and then decreased compared with the control treatment.These findings suggest that endosulfan is highly toxic for aquatic animals,and micronucleus test and some key metabolic enzymes could be considered as biomarker for environmental monitoring.
