Experimental Study on Foaming Slag for Stainless Steel Making

【摘要】:正Foaming slag is very significant in electrical arc furnace operation. But it is very difficult to form in the process of making stainless steel, due to the shortage of FeO in the slag. In this article the essential of foaming slag was discussed and its behavior was analyzed from experimental tests in a 2500Hz Induction Furnace in laboratory. Given quantity of dolomite and limestone was added to slag for generalization of CO_2 by heating, which could react with carbon and then form CO-gas. With help of Pattern-Recognition-Method the optimized compound area for best foaming was also found, within them a slag system with basicity of 2.0 and contents of CaO(33.2%)-SiO_2(17%)-MgO(11.5%)-Al_2O_3(17%)-CaF_2(6.6%) was chosen and introduced. The study showed that CaF_2 content was the most important factor to affect the foaming thickness of slag, followed by contents Al_2O_3, MgO and basicity.
