Middle school education and popularization of earth science knowledge and social progress
【摘要】:正21-2-1 00812 0710 EARTH SCIENCE EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS OF NEPAL B. N.UPRETI(Department of Otology, Tribhuvan University, Tri-Chandra Campus,Kathmandu,Nepal) Recently the school education system in Nepal was restructured and the ten years of schooling has been extended to 12 yeas. According to the new system Class I to V belong to the Primary (ages 6-10), class VI to VIII (ages 11-13) to Lower Seconday , Class IX to X (ages 14-15) to Secondary, and Class X to XII (ages 16-17) to Higher Secondary levels. The Earth Science appears only at the Lower Secondary level and scattered in Geography, Science and and Social Science subjects. The Earth Science subject is not offered in the Higher Secondary level. In comparision with the other science subjects Earth Science makes up only a very small proportion of the curriculum.In a mountaneous country like Nepal where, the problem of environmental degradation is a serious problem, Earth Science education to all levels of school going children is highly desirable not
