Growth of a new scintillation crystal-Ba_3BP_3O_(12):Eu~(2+)

【摘要】:Single crystal of Ba3BP3O12:Eu2+ with sizes up to 10mm×8mm×2mm has been grown by top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) method, using BPO4-NaF as the flux. The growth parameters are as follows: the temperature gradient below the solution is 15 °C/cm, the temperature gradient above the solution is 60 °C/cm, the rotation rate is 30 r/min, and the cooling rate is 0.7 °C/day. The Ba3BP3O12:Eu2+ single crystal exhibits high transmittance (85%) in the range of 350 -800 nm. It shows a broad emission band with the peaks at 442 nm and 506 nm, originating from the two different Eu2+ sites in the structure, respectively. The light yield of Ba3BP3O12:Eu2+ is comparable with that of Bi4Ge3O12 (BGO) single crystal under the same conditions.
