SPH Simulations of Hypervelocity Impact of Al Spheres on Multi-Plate Structures

【摘要】:正A number of series of numerical calculations using SPH(Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) method were carried out to simulate hypervelocity impact of aluminum spheres on multi-plate structures. Morphologic characteristics of debris plumes and damage of the intermediate plates was investigated. Possible damage effect of debris plume threat to back wall was described qualitatively.Results indicated that, comparing to single plate and double plate structure,multi-plate structure has higher resistance capacity to hypervelocity particle impact.Hence the multi-plate shield structure has a better shielding performance with a reduction in structure weight.It provides a promising alternative to the traditional shield in the spacecraft shield design.
